Summer Camp
Our summer program is a four week musical theater day camp. This year we will be producing Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka! Students will learn about and improve their skills in singing, acting, and dancing through the production of the play. Those who choose take part in the Design Internship will experience the entire theatrical design process from concept to production.
Sing!
We will work both as a group and individually to develop strong vocal production, harmony, and tone. We will also dive into the nuances of style for the production.
Dance!
Choreography should enhance the story being told. We will begin with basic dance technique, primarily in the jazz style. Through collaboration we will create choreography in groups and individually that engages the audience and expresses the feelings of each character.
Act!
We will work on creating character through: voice and body; understanding the motivations of their own character; and establishing the relationships between the different characters. Each actor will receive specific feedback and personal direction.
Design!
This project presents the exciting challenge of turning a mundane space into a world of pure imagination! We will begin by developing a design concept. From there, students will help brainstorm ideas for implementation, and then we will build the sets and create the costumes, learning whatever skills are relevant along the way: building, painting, sewing, etc.!
